It can be frustrating especially if one is new at the game and just trying to suss out the basic requirements.Have you ever dreamed about running your own renovation company? Even items collected under a specific category like Office don't always work - not all desks count as desks, not all shelves count as bookcases, some sofas are beds, etc. Since those internal attributes aren't exposed to us (I wish they were, like they are on Steam for Workshop items), there is no way to be sure other than to experiment endlessly and - if you're anal (not like I would know anything about that) - keep a spreadsheet handy, or always fall back on the same standbys (no fun). The main problem isn't even translation, it's that items are not always what you'd expect them to be, or what they are called, but what internal attributes the devs have assigned to them, and humans make mistakes. I view it as a bug I'll report it after finishing this. Amusing, considering an ordinary plastic garden chair counts. In the Pets DLC neither the Getic nor the Woody Office Chairs count as office chairs. It's the chair that doesn't (I just ran into that yesterday myself). It's not the Woody Desk that registers properly. The office requirements dark_haunt listed have not changed since the Pets DLC. ![]() If it doesn't, then you'll know it's something else. If the room changes, the desk is the problem. If you think that's going on with that particular desk, the easiest way to check is to switch it with one of the original base game desks as they definitely count as such. There have been some cases in the past where new DLC items haven't been recognised as their correct item type by the game, also. This is especially true of Workshop items, as they can have whatever tags the creator assigns to them. Also, sometimes other items you add to a room can have an impact on the room type as well, so it's best to start with the main items and then add anything extra once you have your office room type. Sometimes room requirements are changed when DLCs come out, so I'm not 100% sure that's still the requirements. Prior to Pets DLC, the requirements to get the office room type were:Ĭhair (doesn't need to be from the office tab)ĭesk (it shouldn't make a difference what it's named as long as the game knows it as a desk)Īt one point a painting was also needed, however that seems to have changed. ![]()
